Hello and welcome to my blog, I hope that if you are currently considering going down the no win no fee route that the info in this blog will prove to be useful for you.
We live in a society that when there's blame there's a claim and there has never been a truer phrase, you would probably be very suprised at what you can actually claim for and how much you can claim. If you are starting out on your pursuit for compensation you are probably unsure of which no win no fee solicitor to go with. The no win no fee world can be maze of confusion but hopefully this article will clarify things.
What does no win no fee actually mean?
No win no fee means exactly what it says, basically a no win fee no fee solicitor will represent your case in court for you and if you do not win the case then there are no fees for the victim to pay to the solicitor however if the solicitor wins the victim compensation then the solicitor will charge a fee for dealing with the case and in some case claim a sucess fee from the other side.
The reality of the no win no fee system
The no win no fee system is fantastic for alot of people it takes alot of stress away from having to deal with the payment of your legal representitives and the worry that you might lose the case and be left with hefty legal costs to pay to your solicitor, however if its not 99% certain that you are going to win compensation, most no win no fee solicitors would not be prepared to act for you anyway. If you do lose the case although you will not have to pay the solicitor acting for you, you will in most cases have to pay the legal cost of the other side (the person you are trying to claim from) the no win no fee solicitor acting for you will advise you of the 'after event' insurance that you need to cover yourself financially in the case of you losing the case.
How long after a an accident do I have to make a claim?
To make a no win no fee claim the general rule of thumb is that you have got 3 years to initiate legal proceedings however there are exceptions to this rule such as if you were a child under 18 years of age when the incident happened or if you are suffering with an industrial disease.
Hopefully this info has clarified a few things for you, my best advice for those considering going down the no win no fee route is to contact one of the big no win no fee solicitors and have a chat with them as they will be more than happy to talk with you about how to proceed and whether you have got a reasonable chance of winning some compensation. Goodluck
